Although this was the last track written for "Enlarged To Show Texture," in many ways Wendy Carlos' influence is what inspired us to create this E.P. in the first place. Carlos' fearless experimentation with just intonation and bending peoples' perceptions of sound resulted in alternately eerily gorgeous and beautifully frightening albums like Sonic Seasonings and Beauty In The Beast.
Essentially one long modulating organ tone/drone, "Wendy Carlos Is Angry" was also inspired by our discovery of Craig Huxley's invention of the Blaster Beam, an 18-foot long musical metal beam that can be played with a bow and that produces sounds reported to arouse intense sexual feelings in females. It is best known as the voice of V'ger in the 1979 film Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The oscillating overtones and sustained low-end vibrations of "Wendy Carlos Is Angry" -- although untested -- were written to elicit similar response. So turn it way up and sit on the speaker.
